Nagarkot Trek from Kathmandu is the shortest and easiest trek around Kathmandu Valley and is known for great views of Himalayan peaks and local culture and lifestyle. 3 days Nagarkot hiking from Kathmandu combines hiking, visiting medieval palace and enjoying beautiful panorama of Himalayan peaks. In the Nagarkot trek you will visit two famous viewpoints: Nagarkot at 2175m and Dhulikhel at 1550m, both of which offer amazing view of mountain ranges including Langtang, Ganesh Himal, Dorkje Lakpa, Gauri Shankar and Everest.
Nagarkot Trek 3 days finally ends with a visit to Bhaktapur Durbar Square, one of the three medieval palaces within Kathmandu Valley, where you will learn about Newari culture and their excellence in Nepali art and architecture.
We offer many short treks around Kathmandu and Nagarkot. Some of which are listed below.
Day 1: We will pick you up at 8am from Thamel. It is recommended you have your breakfast before 8am. We will drive to Jarsingpauwa via Boudha and Sankhu which takes about one and a half hours. We will start our trek from Jarsingpauwa to Nagarkot, a distance of about 7km which can be covered in 3 hrs. The trail is dust free flanked by green hills and Kathmandu valley on either side. Along the trail you can observe the simple lifestyle of villagers. Great views of Manaslu, Ganesh Himal, Langtang, Shishapangma, Dorje Lakpa, Gauri Shankar and Everest (if you are lucky!) are visible from Kathmandu to Nagarkot trek. Once in Nagarkot, we will partake of pre-ordered lunch. After lunch continue trek to Nagarkot view tower located at the height of about 2175m. Watch sunset view and then return to hotel where you will have dinner.
Day 2: Watch early sunrise view from hotel followed by delicious breakfast. Afterwards we begin our trek to Dhulikhel which takes about 5 hrs. The trail passes through Nagarkot view tower and goes downhill to Sanga. We will continue our trek further to Dhulikhel. Lunch will be taken in a local restaurant en route.
In Dhulikhel you will check in hotel and welcomed with warm tea. After some refreshment, visit Dhulikhel bazaar and its surroundings before returning to hotel.
Note: If you are interested in meeting traditional blacksmith, please consult it with your guide beforehand.
Day 3: Watch sunrise views from hotel over breakfast. We start our drive to Bhaktapur at 8am. We will have plenty of time to take a tour of the medieval city of Bhaktapur A world heritage site, Bhaktapur hosts some of the finest specimens of Newar art and architecture such as 55 windows palace, Datatraya Square, Nyatapole Temple and Pottery Square. From Bhaktapur we will continue our drive back to Kathmandu.
Trip note: Juju Dhau sold in Bhaktapur is regarded as the king of yoghurt in Nepal. Tasting Juju Dhau is a must for all tourists visiting Bhaktapur.
